Using An Acne Skin Treatment

Acne is, of course, the most common of all skin disorders and pretty much everyone will have to deal with varying degrees of acne outbreaks at one point in their life. While some may believe that this is primarily a teenage year's skin condition, this is not a very accurate assessment. Basically, regardless of a person's age the human body contains sebaceous glands. These are the glands that produce oil and as long as there is oil production in the body then the potential for clogged pores and acne breakouts is possible. Needless to say, when one suffers from a serious outbreak of acne it becomes important to seek the proper acne skin treatment so as to reverse the condition.

Acne skin treatments can often be addressed (at least initially) with common over the counter products that contain benzoyl peroxide. This is a deep cleaning agent that serves the purpose of drying up oil in the pores and possibly reducing the onset of further oil production. This will dry up pimples that are currently present and also greatly reduce the onset of new pimples. Please note: while over the counter acne skin treatment products are often reliable they may not always prove effective. In such an instance, it becomes important to take the next logical step in acne skin treatment which will generally involve seeking the help of a qualified dermatologist.

Acne is oten the result of the presence of bacteria and when the acne becomes resistant to over the counter acne skin treatment then antibiotics will be required to eliminate the presence of the bacteria. These antibiotics are prescription medicines and must be dispensed by a dermatologist upon proper examination so as to determine which antibiotic would be the right one.

If there was one acne skin treatment that people should never do it would be to squeeze pimples. Now, some may be saying that is not an actual acne skin treatment and that would be true – it isn't. Yet, many people do try to use this as a means of eliminating pimples. This does not work. In fact, it leads to a greater expansion of the acne across the body mass as well as leads to major scarring. As such, this is a practice that should be avoided at all costs. Again, it is a self defeating acne skin treatment that should be avoided by one and all.
