Blue Light Acne Treatment
There are a number of acne treatments out there and most people assume that they fall into one of three categories: oral, topical or injectable. There is also a lesser known – but very effective – method of treatment known as blue light acne treatment. What blue light acne treatment involves is a non-invasive (non-surgical for laymen) procedure that involves the use of a blue wavelength light. While this may sound like something right out of a science fiction novel, it is not as fantastic as some may be originally led to believe. The light in this treatment involves the targeting of light to kill the underlying acne bacteria in the skin. This is essentially what antibiotics do as well, but sometimes antibiotics prove ineffective. Hence, there is a need for the blue light acne treatment.
The most common term to describe the onset of pimples is clogged pores. Often, we (correctly) assume that these pores are clogged with dirt, oil and dry skin. Again, this is a correct assumption but it is a superficial assumption- and a literally superficial assumption at that! After all, superficial refers to the surface level of understanding. While the surface of the skin is clogged there is something going on far below the skin causing the clogs and it is the bacteria that is creating the condition. This is why topical creams can often prove ineffective as they are unable to reach below the skin's surface. Thus, it is the blue light acne treatment that is required to deal with the expansive problem. Basically, the way blue light acne treatment works is that it attacks the acne bacteria known as porphyrins. When these bacteria absorb the light derived the blue light acne treatment the bacteria suffers irreparable damage. Again, while antibiotics may be subject to the body developing a tolerance it becomes next to impossible for the body to develop a tolerance to the wavelengths of blue light acne treatment.
The delivery system of the blue light acne treatment is rather simple. Basically, all one need to do is sit in front of a blue light lamp for a short period of time – sometimes as little as 15 minutes. This is not a one time treatment however. Often, it will require two treatments a week during a four week period. While this may seem excessive it truly isn't; especially when one considers the fact that the end result can prove to be quite effective. So, if you are looking for a non-invasive procedure designed to combat excessive acne this is most definitely a procedure to consider.
